Small Groups

small group bible study

While Sunday gatherings are a key focus for us as a church family, lots of our fellowship happens in midweek meetings of smaller groups

Growth Groups meet on different evenings of the week in people’s homes around the city. Roots Groups, for young workers and students meet centrally at St Silas on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Our Women’s Bible Study meets on Monday mornings at 10.15am in the lounge.

Roots & Student Roots

Our church family in their 20s and 30s, students and young workers, meet for Roots and Student Roots centrally at St Silas on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We invite people through Roots to “Put your roots down in Christ; and put your roots down at St Silas”.

We get together from 7:30pm to catch up, then we head to our groups at 7:45pm. Our group times are relaxed and informal. Week by week our aim is to know God better and to grow as Christians by looking at the Bible together and helping one another understand and apply it. We close our time together by praying for one another, and we aim to finish our group time at 9:15pm.

A couple of times a year we arrange formal and informal times to hang out, and once a year at least, we try to get everyone away for a weekend away together. Our next weekend away is in January 2023.

Central Prayer Meeting

On the first Wednesday of the month, all our Student Roots, Roots and Growth Groups meet together centrally at St Silas to prayer together, for our world, our city, our mission partners and our church.

We meet informally at 7:30pm with the formal time beginning at 7:45pm finishing by 9pm.

Women’s Bible Study

For those who find a daytime Bible study a better fit for their life, our Women’s Bible Study meets on Monday mornings at 10.15–11.45am in the lounge.

We meet for fellowship through bible study, prayer and friendship. Women of all ages and stages come along, and babies and toddlers are welcome to join us.

Other ministries

We're an evangelical church — which means we believe when we open the bible, we hear the living God speak to us, so that we know Him through Jesus
