Associate Minister Youth and Children's Worker Ministry Trainees

Associate Minister

St Silas is a growing, Bible-believing Anglican church in the heart of the west end of Glasgow. We are seeking an Associate/Assistant Minister, to join the team at an important and exciting stage in the life of our church family. This is a 3-4 year role, beginning in August/September, with significant responsibility.

Particular responsibilities would include, under the Rector:

  • Sharing significantly in the preaching and teaching ministry;
  • Being part of the staff leadership team;
  • Service planning, with particular oversight of the evening service;
  • Sharing in the pastoral care of the congregation; and
  • One-to-one discipleship and evangelism;

and one or more of the following:

  • Oversight of our outreach programme and strategies;
  • Development and leadership in our “Roots” ministry among young workers and students.

This position could be tailored to be a training role, and combined with continued formal theological and ministry training, if desired. Alternatively, it would be suitable for somebody who is already qualified or ordained.

St Silas Church
Youth and Children’s Worker

St Silas is a growing, Bible-believing Anglican church in the heart of the west end of Glasgow. We are looking for a youth and children’s minister to join the team and oversee this growing and vital area of ministry for our church family. We currently have around 60 children in the church family, with a small but growing number hitting Secondary School/teenaged years.

Particular responsibilities would include, under the Rector:

  • Overseeing and developing our children’s ministry, including direct personal involvement, raising up and training leaders, co-ordinating the leadership team, and providing teaching resources;
  • Overseeing and developing our youth ministry, including direct personal involvement, raising up and training leaders, co-ordinating the leadership team, and providing teaching resources;
  • Setting up and overseeing age-specific groups beyond our Sunday services, as appropriate, with the aims of discipling our children and young people, and enabling and equipping them to invite their friends to experience and explore the Christian faith.
  • Setting up and overseeing holiday outreach and discipleship initiatives, such as a St Silas holiday club, and involvement in leadership of an SU holiday-type venture; and
  • Assisting with the leadership and planning of Sunday all-age services and teaching.

This role could be combined with continued formal theological and ministry training, if desired, or would be suitable for somebody who is already qualified and experienced.

We envisage this as a full time role, but would be willing to explore the possibility with somebody of a part time position.

St Silas Church
Ministry Trainees

St Silas Church is a growing, Bible-believing Anglican church in the heart of the west end of Glasgow. We are looking to recruit Ministry Trainees to join the team here.

We have a whole range of exciting ministry opportunities, including children and youth, preaching and leading services, UK and international students, and music. Training would be at Cornhill Scotland, or an alternative as agreed.

A means tested living grant is available.
