Building for the Future

artists impression of the new hall

Building work has now started to replace the current hall with a new facility that will be more appropriate to a 21st century culture. It will incorporate a large hall, three meeting rooms, storage space, four offices, a new kitchen, a café area and disabled access to both floors.

We are passed the planning and design stages and have raised the bulk of the funds although we are still working to raise more to avoid the need for a large mortgage.

25 April 2009 Talent Show

Talent Show 25 April 2009

Thirteen acts were put together for a Talent Show to raise funds for Building for the Future in April 2009. Many people performed for the first time and some out of their normal comfort zone, all did a very good job. The excellent, friendly trapeze troup Aereolocos added height, drama and breathtaking performance to the evening which in the end raised around £600.

Big thanks to all involved!

6 Dec 2008 Christmas Craft Fair and Nearly New sale

church on 6th DecThe Nearly New Sale and Christmas Craft Fair, held in the church on Saturday 6 December, was a huge success. Over 200 people were welcomed into the building, and greeted with a sumptuous display of crafts, a huge array of high quality children's clothes and fabulous smell of freshly baked muffins and coffee. The church looked great, with craft tables along the back and side of the building, clothes attractively and creatively displayed in the middle, and an inviting cafe area beside the kitchen. Signs encouraged the visitor through to the hall, where children's toys and books were laid out, with a further wide selection of books displayed in one of the back rooms. There was a great buzz about the place, and a really good atmosphere which encouraged people to stay, have coffee and spend plenty of money! Over £2000 was raised on the day.

23 Aug 2008 Nearly New Sale

totsnco teamTots 'n' Co organised a sale of children's clothes, maternaty wear, toys, buggies, etc. to raise funds for Building for the Future. A grand total of £1252.75 was raised which is even more impressive as there were only arond 100 people through the door in the two hours the sale was on.

We are delighted with this total, but this is only part one! There was a huge amount of high quality, beautiful clothing left, so the decision has been made to hold a second sale before Christmas, combined with the Fairtrade breakfast and Christmas Craft Fair. This will be a truly fantastic event, so watch this space for more information!

25 May 2008 Aereolocos Bond Night

link to FLICKR photo of arial workA Bond-themed evening involving a spy-themed quiz and aerial acrobatics displays on rope, hoop, strops and trapeze. The event was introduced by James Bond himself who was smooth, slick and dangerously charming. Non-alcoholic cocktails and high-class canapés were served by glamorous waiters and waitresses. A 4-piece band of suave and debonair young men provided the musical riffs while Q and Miss Moneypenny created a quiz which amused, entertained and challenged the audience.

This event raised over £600.
