But What is the Alpha Course?
Thousands of people around the world are now taking part in Alpha courses which have now been around for 15 years. It is a ten week practical introduction to the Christian faith, designed primarily for non-churchgoers. The course looks at Jesus life, his death and resurrection and topics such as the Bible, prayer and healing. An integral part of Alpha is the weekend or day away where the focus is on the person and work of the Holy Spirit.
How does it work?
Each week will be hosted by a group leader and helpers, the topic for discussion that week is presented in a short video which acts as a catalyst for discussion. Which is exactly what happens next. Following the video either together or in groups there is a time to discuss the issues raised or anything else which may have come to mind from previous weeks. The atmosphere is informal and all are welcome to find out about the big questions and exactly what is going on?
